First Prize for the Worst Witch

This book is about a girl called Mildred who is extremely cheeky sometimes. The thing I liked about this book is the ending. The pictures are lovely.

Mildred Hubble is back in another mayhem filled story. I loved The Worst Witch when I was a child and now my daughter does too. She whizzed through this book, stopping only to tell me the exciting bits. She is hooked on The Worst Witch now. Jill Murphy's illustrations are still how I've always imagined the characters to look like.

THE original witch is still as loveable today as she was when I was a child. It was an absolute pleasure to introduce my daughter to The Worst Witch.

This is filled with laughter, magic and friendship. I really enjoyed and I do create books myself as well inspired by the Worst Witch!

This is filled with laughter, magic and friendship. I really enjoyed and I do create books myself as well inspired by the Worst Witch! My favourite part of the Worst Witch was when Mildred and Maud fell in the pond. My favourite character is Mildred because she is top of the class with comedy.

A great adventure story - good host of characters and lots of escapades. The animals are brilliant and Mildred entertains, with a positive message, as always.

This was an excellent book especially because I love dogs. Star was my favourite character! There were lots of funny things and I thought Mildred was very clever. She loves animals as I do, and there are lots in the book! It will be really good to see what happens next!

In this book, Mildred's surprisingly acrobatic dog (which she found) gets claimed by the circus. She trades him for magical toothbrushes, a dustpan & brush & a broom for her dog, a horse and a seal!

In this book, Mildred's surprisingly acrobatic dog (which she found) gets claimed by the circus. Poor Mildred can't bear to be separated and so she goes and finds the circus and trades some magical toothbrushes, a dustpan and brush and a broom for her dog, a horse and a seal.

Unexpectedly she still gets head girl at school, she is not the worst witch after all... This book was great, I loved the illustrations and enjoyed reading it.

Who will win first prize and what mistakes will Mildred make along the way!?

Who will win first prize and what mistakes will Mildred make along the way!? This book is about Mildred Hubble who is learning how to be a witch, but she makes a lot of mistakes! I think this is the eighth book and in the story she loses her dog because of Ethel, her witch enemy. You have to read on to find out if she gets him back! The end is unexpected which is what I loved about it. If you love the Worst Witch books you will be interested in this new one. This is great for children as it has a happy start and ending.

The book is very good and I would recommend it to my friends.

This book is all about Mildred Hubble and her worst enemy, Ethel Hallow, Hallow’s are always Head Girl. Mildred has 2 friends, Ethel has only 1 friend. Ethel does something very mean: she is not a very nice person. She always tries to get Mildred into trouble and steals her spells. Mildred wants to be Head Girl but will she ever become it? I thought that the book was very good because Mildred comes up with a genius idea and she is a very nice girl to be friends with. I felt as though I could rely on her to do the right thing. I would definitely recommend this to my friends

The latest adventure in the Worst Witch series of books. I found that this book was mysterious and exciting at the same time. Follow Mildred's adventures as she tries to free her dog from a circus.

The latest adventure in the Worst Witch series of books. I found that this book was mysterious and exciting at the same time. Follow Mildred's adventures as she tries to free her dog from a circus.

This book is the latest adventure in the Worst Witch series of books about Mildred Hubble “The Worst Witch” at Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches. I think if you want to know who is who and about their personalities and hilarious past problems you should read the other adventures of Mildred, Maud and Enid trying to put up with nasty Ethel Hallow and scary Miss Hardbroom.

In this particular adventure the teachers discover that Mildred’s dog “Star”, who was adopted by Mildred in the previous book, actually ran away from the owners of a small circus and he has to be returned to them. I really enjoyed this book because I liked the idea of the three friends trying to help remove unhappy animals from the circus without getting themselves into trouble.

I found that this book was mysterious and exciting at the same time. My favourite part was the girls discovering that the new swimming pool was not quite what they were expecting, think dragonflies… it was a funny start to the book.

I would recommend it to people that enjoyed the other Worst Witch books or other books that contain good witches and magic. I can’t wait for more Worst Witch books in the future and also can’t wait to see what other children like me think about FIRST PRIZE FOR THE WORST WITCH

Another brilliant Mildred Hubble adventure, I can't for the next one. My rating for this book is 12 stars.

I loved this book. I knew that I would enjoy it because I have read all lots of worst witch books. I loved it when Mildred made the toothbrushes dance, it really made me laugh. If you have any sort of imagination you will love this book as much as I did. Another brilliant Mildred Hubble adventure, I can't for the next one. My rating for this book is 12 stars.

A great book, easy to read and keeps your interest. Lots of laughs and an unexpected ending. I really enjoyed reading the book.

I think the book was really good. It was simple to read and kept me interested and wanting to read more. I think the book would be good for boys and girls and you don’t need to have read any of the other books to understand the story. I would say it would suit age 6 upwards. I loved the surprise at the end of the book. I also liked meeting all the different characters in the book too. There wasn’t any scary bits either but a couple of sadder bits. I really enjoyed reading it and would recommend other children to read it too.

As good as all the other Worst Witch books.

I really like the Worst Witch books. I like listening to them on a cd, watching them on TV and reading them. In The First Prize for the Worst Witch, Mildred and her friends are in the Fourth Year at Miss Cackle’s Academy for Witches. She now has a dog called Star, who flies with her on her broomstick. But Ethel tells Miss Cackle that he is the lost dog from a circus.

This book was fun to read because there is lots of silliness and magic in it. I liked it when Mildred makes toothbrushes fly.

My favourite characters are the animals and Mildred. I would hate to have a teacher like Miss Hardbroom.

Our favourite character is Star because he is a very sweet, clever and talented dog, and he has a secret identity that Mildred doesn’t know about.

We love the Worst Witch series and were really excited to read the latest one. It was really funny, especially when the girls were expecting a brilliant brand new swimming pool but it was an ‘ecological pool’ which is really just a pond. We’ve tried swimming in one of those too and it was a bit gross. It was hilarious when Selkie the circus seal was in the school swimming pool by accident when Mildred got a spell wrong. My little brother really liked the BatNav when Mildred had to poke it with a stick. Our favourite character is Star because he is a very sweet, clever and talented dog, and he has a secret identity that Mildred doesn’t know about. We hope there’s going to be lots more books in this series.
