Plötzlich verschwinden allerlei Dinge im Garten: Amandas Pizzateig, das Werkzeug der Apfelmännchen ... und wo ist eigentlich Rübenbach abgeblieben?! Luis nimmt sich des Falls an. Als selbsternannter Oberdetektiv kommt er der Sache sicher schnell auf die Spur. Nach einer Reihe falscher Verdächtigungen wird der Dieb schließlich auf frischer Tat ertappt. Hexische Beförderung Petronella wird von Pestilla überrumpelt: Sie soll sich einer Hexenprüfung unterziehen, um zu beweisen, dass sie der Leitung eines Gartens würdig ist. Was Petronella nicht ahnt: Pestilla muss die Leitung eines anderen Gartens neu besetzen und hat heimlich vor, Petronella für diesen Posten zu prüfen. Wenn Petronella die Prüfung besteht, müsste sie ihren geliebten Apfelgarten also verlassen! Zum Glück durchschauen Lea, Luis und die anderen Gartenbewohner diesen Plan gerade noch rechtzeitig.
