Can the dog-nappers catch their prize or will they be outwitted by the super-smart dog?

A Julia Eccleshare Pick of the Month August 2020

Penny, the notorious dog-napper, has a host of dogs already but there is one very special dog she is determined to get her hands on. Quick, clever, a master of disguise and very good at problem solving, he is the dog she wants. And he is covered in spots so should be easy to find. Penny’s assistant Pat sets out to find the dog. Can the dog-nappers catch their prize or will they be outwitted by the super-smart dog? Emma Lazell’s energetic and vivid illustrations inject this simple story with great energy.

That Dog! Synopsis

There's a team of dognappers on the loose. They've stolen lots of pooches, but this time they're up against a very clever dog. The cunning Penelope Dognapper is keen to get her hands on the latest rare breed, the lesser spotted woofer. Her big mistake is sending Patrick, her accomplice, to do the job. He has great difficulty identifying the right dog - that dog! - and in a house that also contains a snake, rabbit and characterful cat, you can imagine the chaos that ensues as he tries to steal the dog.

That dog is a very smart one. He's quick, clever and a bit of a detective in his spare time and he might just have worked out who's behind the dastardly crimes. Will he avoid getting caught himself and rescue his fellow creatures?

A funny, exciting story about a clever, spotty dog and a pair of rather silly, dastardly villains! We loved the chaotic, colourful and fun illustrations and the satisfying ending. One to read and enjoy over and over again! Full review
