The answer when it comes will be a real and very satisfying surprise. Maki finishes the book heading back to mum, a much wiser little lemur. The story is rich in drama as well as humour and Helen Penayi’s illustrations of the jungle and its inhabitants are full of warmth and life.

A message from the author, Samuel Langley-Swain; This book is inspired by my youngest son, whose neurodiversity presents itself as attachment-based demand avoidance. Heightened by anxiety, his inability to listen and meet reasonable requests has taught me so much about different parenting styles and how we could learn to move iwth our children at their pace. To young readers, this is a really fun story about a young lemur who learns to listen after getting lost in the dark Madagascan forest but for adults it helps remind us that we might find more successs using non-demanding ways to communicate with children (of all ages!) I really hope you enjoy this personal story, brought to life through the incredible illustrations from Helen Panayi.
