"Narrative and non-fiction combined in an attractive first story information book"
One of a new series telling young children about baby animals, this attractive story information book lets us in on the details of a young koala’s life. It’s presented both as narrative and non-fiction. We discover the little joey first fast asleep in a cosy pouch on Mum’s tummy; lift the full-size flap and you’ll find a page of information about where koalas live and what they eat.
The story continues as Baby Koala gets bigger, eventually climbing out of the pouch to cling on to the fur on her mum’s back. There is drama as she explores at night, and danger from a prowling owl and a frightening fire.
With more flaps to lift, we are also given more details about koala babies. Both presentation styles will engage children’s attention and spark their understanding while Qu Lan’s tender, atmospheric illustrations are full of life and detail. A book to develop knowledge and an interest in these extraordinary little creatures.
Baby Koala likes to stay close to Mum as the pair snuggle up together, safe in the treetops. But one day, when danger threatens, Baby Koala must be brave and bold.
