Tinged with sorrow and sadness this is also a heart-warming family story full of wonder and magic. For his ninth birthday, Gwyn is given five unusual gifts by his grandmother. None of them is wrapped so he knows immediately that they are a piece of seaweed, a yellow scarf, a tin whistle, a twisted metal brooch and a small broken horse.
Gwyn is ready to find out if, like his ancestors, he has the making of a magician. Tossing the brooch into the wind, Gwyn is led on an adventure which may also resolve the mystery of his missing sister and heal the pain of her disappearance. ~ A review for the first book in the trilogy, The Snow Spider.
