About Sally Dring

Sally Dring MA (Hons), MCLIP, is currently the Learning Resources Manager at Ripon Grammar School where she has been for nine years. Prior to that, she worked for nine years at The Hayfield School in Doncaster.

She was a late-comer to library work, beginning from scratch at the age of 40, completing a City & Guilds Library and Information Assistants qualification, followed by an NVQ Level 3 in Information and Library Services. She finally Chartered through CILIP in 2011 and is currently starting on the path to Fellowship. Sally was a founding member of the Yorkshire and Humberside branch of the School Library Association in 2004 and has been on the committee ever since in various capacities, including Treasurer and Chair. She has served as an elected member of the SLA Executive Board, working with the Publications Committee. A more recent involvement is as a CILIP Mentor for Chartership, which she is thoroughly enjoying. At Ripon Grammar School she has been Literacy and Numeracy Co-ordinator for six years and particularly enjoys trying to build reading for pleasure and literacy strategies into all the different subject areas.
