In the world of Panterra, the meteor that did so much damage to the dinosaurs missed Earth (there’s a great visual hint on page 65) and they’re co-existing alongside humans. In Brecklan, home to Henry Fairchild, they have been domesticated and Henry, now one of the famous Dino Knights, rides an actual T rex, ready to defend his homeland as necessary.

This adventure concludes the first (I hope) trilogy in the series and sees Henry and his fellow knights take on the troops of the Guild in the far-off Dry Lands. Getting there is adventure enough even before the battle, but Henry makes new friends and finally discovers what happened to his long-lost parents …

This is a thrilling action-packed adventure, and Henry is the perfect knight – brave, resolute, but always ready to listen to others and to learn things. The descriptions of the dinosaurs are excellent too, providing a real sense of them as living, breathing creatures, and Jeff Crosby’s illustrations are superb: irresistible reading!
