Perfect for readers who like their graphic novels fast, funny, crime-filled and meta fictive, this latest episode in the O.D.D. Squad series is particularly enjoyable thanks to the role played by superhero in training, Hyperkitty. A ginger kitten with the power of super-speed, thanks to a glowing meteorite in an alleyway, she’s not actually that effective as a superhero, given to wandering off without telling anyone or watching YouTube shorts on her phone when she should be catching crooks. Invisidog is all for dropping her from the Squad, but could he just be anti-cat?

It turns out there’s more to Hyperkitty than anyone suspects and by the end of the book she’s gone from hero to double-crossing villain to hero again. As ever, it’s all very funny indeed, the author’s asides always a treat, and a thoroughly satisfying story to boot. One to recommend to fans of Bunny vs Monkey and Pablo and Splash.
