Nominated for the Roald Dahl Funny Prize 2010.

A master of hilarious and outlandish invention, the former Children’s Laureate’s new book is reminiscent of his classic Mr Magnolia. Like him, Angelica Sprocket, out on a picnic with some children, can produce anything – and everything including the kitchen sink! – from out of her capacious pockets. There are straw hats for goats, skateboards for skaters and even an alligator and an elephant just for fun. The accompanying rhyming text is deliciously bubbly too.

Angelica Sprocket's Pockets Press Reviews

Review of ‘Angelica Sprocket's Pockets’ by Books for Keeps [5 stars]

In Angelica Sprocket the inimitable Quentin Blake has come up with yet another quirky character – aunt? childminder? magician? – to entertain us, with all manner of rhyming nonsense. This pigtailed, bespectacled and ear ringed eccentric produces mice, cheese, umbrellas, ducks, straw hats, elephants, alligators, in fact anything and everything including the kitchen sink from her purple, long sleeved, head to toe, pocket pocked overcoat, much to the delight of a bunch of infants.
Just like Angelica’s pockets, this book brims over with joie de vivre, fun and frolics and is destined to be another Blake classic.
