About

Francis and His Shell Synopsis

Francis and His Shell is an illustrated book, for both children and adults. The book follows a hermit crab, Francis, in Hawaii who leaves his home in search for something better. He travels to many spots on the Big Island of Hawaii only to realise it does not matter how beautiful the places you travel are if you aren't surrounded by love. This compels Francis to return home where his loving family await. Loosely based on the biblical story of the Prodigal Son, Francis & His Shell was created to demonstrate in a fun and illustrative way the journey many people go on before realising the comfort of home is found only in God.

Francis and His Shell was created as a passion project by two friends to reflect on their time spent as volunteers in training in Hawaii. They fell in love with the people, culture and nature of Hawaii and wanted to pay tribute to the many things they learnt in their time there. The book shares a message to readers to appreciate home and family and also serves to bring attention to some of the most breathtaking sights that The Big Island of Hawaii has to offer.
