"Lionborn is an action-packed start to a series that follows Fionn and his friends."
Fionn is plagued by vivid nightmares, waking up with injuries that quickly disappear. He’s Lionborn, long since thought extinct with magical powers, but he is in danger from a sorcerer who needs his blood to resurrect a demon. We’re drawn into a magical world with Fionn as he tries to stop the sorcerer and find out more about his identity and destiny.
This is the first book in a series and so the focus is on Fionn, his friends Ella and Tiny, and Fionn’s first foray into Arborea. Waking foray at least. Although the first book in a series usually gets you situated in the world, there’s still plenty of action, adventure and mysteries to solve. I liked the teamwork between Fionn, Ella and Tiny and the friendship that is shown between them. Alongside the magical plotline, Fionn is navigating a mundane homelife and school, it will be interesting to see how this balance will be maintained in the rest of the series. The plotline of Lionborn offers magic and magical creatures, great for young fantasy readers. There are unique fantasy elements that I think readers will enjoy like Fionn’s Uks, which I hope we see more of. Lionborn has a satisfying ending that still leaves plenty to explore in future books.
