Sledges to the Rescue

Sledges to the Rescue Synopsis

"His books have moved me and so many others to laugh out loud, to cry and to think." Cressida Cowell, author of How to Train Your Dragon. From one of the nation's most beloved authors and the creator of The Snowman, comes a brand new edition of a forgotten children's classic by Raymond Briggs - the third in his trilogy of stories set in Wimbledon. This charming book was inspired by the author's childhood adventures in post-war London.

In this gentle, nostalgic and festive tale of adventure and rescue, Ernie the milkman has an accident on Christmas morning, and it is up to the local children to save the day. This is a story of warmth and laughter, following the childish excitement of delivering milk in the snow and saving the community - all with Christmas spirit in abundance! The new cloth-bound edition reproduces all 42 of Briggs’s beautiful original illustrations to perfection, and is wonderfully introduced by the best-selling writer Jessie Burton, who also grew up in Wimbledon.

Published as a sumptuous gift hardback to accompany its sister publication The Strange House (the first Manderley Press volume of collected stories by Raymond Briggs), this book will entrance and entertain a new generation of children.
