It’s a big day in Little Ditch and Marty – mouse not moose – is very eggcited. He’s got the day off work as Postmouse because today is the annual Little Ditch Fastest Feathers race, first prize a golden egg! He’s not allowed to enter – it’s strictly birds only – but uneggspectedly, he’s soon much more than a spectator.
First, he’s sent to collect the Golden Egg because – to the horror of the postie team – the official race judge was out when delivery was attempted, then, as he’s racing back with it he’s ambushed by bandits, in the Foggy Forest of all places, and has to descend into their burrow to get the award back. There’s lots more eggstraordinary eggscapades for Marty and his excitable friend and colleague Nibbles before the winner crosses the line, and even after the award is presented.
Claire Powell wraps up and safely delivers another bundle of hugely enjoyable highly illustrated adventure and this action-packed story is full of great characters, witty word-play and jokes, and even a terrific map. First class fun!
