Richard leaves to find his fortune, and his ship is taken over by pirates. Years later, he returns to Claddagh and finds Nuala still waiting for him. He crafts a ring for her, known as the Claddagh ring, to symbolize their love, friendship, and faithfulness. A Claddagh ring is included with the book.
