Jiddo's garden is a wonder. In it grow so many amazing things -- to see, smell, and taste. But helping him to tend the garden teaches this young girl about even more than fig trees.

It gives her a chance to discover just who she is. Many years ago, many Palestinians had to leave their homelands. Then, year after year, more were pushed to leave, over and over again, like a bad dream that won't end.

Now, millions of families like hers live far away from home. But Jiddo shows her how, until they can return, tending a garden can connect them to home -- and to each other! Of all the things that grow in Jiddo's garden, belonging is one thing that taking care of the earth can always teach everyone.
