LoveReading4Kids Says
April is not happy. She and her mum are moving house (maybe to a refuge? They leave in a hurry, in the dark and the new house is big, with lots of closed doors, silent people behind them). Mum promises that every cloud has a silver lining, but April can’t find one.
Gifted with some seeds, she plants them and then waits, but the flowers won’t appear and despite what her mum promises, it doesn’t feel that lovely things are just around the corner. But, as the weeks and months pass, we can see things are getting better as colour creeps in to the illustrations, and then they finally get to move into their own home, just as tiny green shoots start to unfurl. Now, April is happy.
Sensitively told and unafraid to take on challenging themes, the story reminds us all of the healing power of hope, of nature and time.

About
April's Garden Synopsis
April and her mother have been housed in temporary accommodation. Promised a brighter future by her mother, April finds her life there to be filled with things that are old, broken and impersonal. She longs for her own things and for some beauty in her life but experiences only frustration and disappointment until one day she plants some seeds…
A touching story about a young girl coming to terms with a change in circumstances, ideal for introducing children to the lives of those who are, for whatever reason, displaced or in need of security.
With charming illustrations by highly regarded illustrator, Catalina Echeverri this story inspires a love of nature and gardening in children, highlighting gardening as a mindful activity helping children to deal with feelings of anger or frustration.
