A Lovereading4Kids 'Debut of the Year 2011' selection.

7+. Winner of The Times/Chicken House Children's Fiction Competition 2010, Muncle Trogg is the charming upside down fairytale about a tiny giant who saves the day. It's a debut novel and the first in a series of adventures featuring Muncle, the smallest giant in the world.

An important message to readers from Amanda Craig, one of the judges of the above award:

'a classic story...its sense of humour, its sulky dragon Snarg and its child-friendly view of giants will have a worldwide appeal'.

A view from the Publisher, Barry Cunningham:

'As hard to find as giants' fingernails, Muncle Trogg is a rarity indeed, a fully grown novel for imaginative younger readers.'

The Times/Chicken House Children’s Fiction Competition has been searching for the most talented, undiscovered writers of children’s fiction since 2008. Leading top authors such as Julia Donaldson and Michelle Paver have judged the competition alongside Chicken House publisher, Barry Cunningham. The first winner was Emily Diamand in 2008 with her novel, Flood Child. Sophia Bennett’s Threads won in 2009. Muncle Trogg has been a gigantic success - there's even a film from Sony Pictures Animation on its way. The winner of the 2011 competition, Kieran Larwood’s Freaks, will be released this April.

We can't wait for the second title in the series, Muncle Trogg and the Flying Donkey, which will be published in January 2012.
