Increasing the amount of hugs given and received can only make the world a better place and this irresistible book will surely encourage it. Daddy Bear and Little Bear are enjoying a day in the forest and after a sweet snack of honey Little Bear suggests they give Mr Beaver a hug, to liven up his day. The hugging makes them feel so good they decide to carry on and hug their way through the forest, even embracing a nervous looking hunter. The illustrations leave us in no doubt as to the size, strength and weight of Daddy Bear, but his hugs are extraordinarily gentle and tender. At the end Little Bear reminds his daddy that they still need to hug each other, and they do, ‘the strongest, hardest, largest, longest and most loving hug of all’. Touching, full of warmth, a wonderful reminder that real bears hug.
