"A brilliant introduction to drumming and a lot more besides."
What a remarkable young person Nandi Bushell is. She fell in love with drumming at just five years old, inspired by old film clip of The Beatles – she could see how much Ringo enjoyed it. She got a toy drumkit, broke it after too much drumming and persuaded her (equally remarkable in my view) parents to buy her a real one. Ten years on, she’s played onstage at the Forum in Los Angeles and at Wembley Stadium.
Her book is much more than a biography though, it’s a very clear, step by step guide to playing the drums for young people, practical, easy to follow, filled with tips and hints, and thoroughly inspiring. Nandi’s enthusiasm and positive approach to life shines through on every page and if this doesn’t encourage young people to take up drumming (though it undoubtedly will), it will make them approach other things in their lives with the same determination and optimism.
