French Illustrator Sebastien Braun studied fine and applied arts at Strasbourg University.
He then taught applied arts before becoming a freelance illustrator, first of all for editorial clients in Paris. When Sebastien moved to London in 2000 he developed his illustrations for children and since then has been working exclusively on children’s picture books.
He has a rare ability to combine rich painting techniques with soft and tender observational drawing, perfect for picture books. Sebastien lives with his wife and two sons in London.

What do you like best about being an illustrator? Giving away my spare copies to children
Where is your favourite place to work? My studio, at the top of my house.
What three things do you need every day before you pick up a pen / pencil? A cup of coffee, a kiss from each member of my family, and a walk with Ollie (my Golden Retriever)
What are your five favourite things in the whole world? Knowing that my dearest are happy, helping whoever needs a hand, toasted nuts preferably with a good amount of milk chocolate (Swiss please)
What are your hobbies? Gardening, walking
Have you any pets? Fluffy and Fizzy, 2 red-eyed Guinea Pigs, and Ollie, a lively Golden Retriever Pup.
Have you ever held an owl? I wish!
If you were the owl in this book, where would be your favourite place to roost? In the barn.
What was your favourite thing about the night when you were a child? Falling asleep in my mummy’s arms.
