An absolute treat to read aloud, this comic tale puts a new spin on the story of the gingerbread man. ‘Can’t catch me!’ sings Jake, ‘I’m the fastest mouse in the world’ and he can easily outrun Tom the cat, as well as the fox and the bear. But oh dear, pride comes before a fall and Tom proves that quick thinking can win the prize. Jake is a swaggering, cheeky presence in Simona Ciraolo’s vibrant illustrations and his comeuppance is gleefully celebrated in text and pictures. Great fun.

Come summer, autumn or winter, a little boy is going to make the best of it. Nothing is better than summer, swimming every day and eating ice cream. But a little boy's big sister has BIG news. She tells him that summer is going to end soon ... and winter is coming! When winter comes, she says, it will be cold ... and dark ... and rain all the time. They'll be stuck on the sofa for days and won't even dream of eating ice cream... From author-illustrator Simona Ciraolo, this is a celebration of the changing of the seasons, showing just how much joy can be found around each sunny - or snowy - corner.
Meet Alice Guy-Blache. She made movies some of the very first movies, and some of the most exciting! Blow up a pirate ship? Why not? Crawl into a tiger's cage? Of course! Leap off a bridge onto a real speeding train? It will be easy! Driven by her passion for storytelling, Alice saw a potential for film that others had not seen before, allowing her to develop new narratives, new camera angles, new techniques, and to surprise her audiences again and again. With daring and vision, Alice Guy-Blache introduced the world to a thrilling frontier of imagination and adventure, and became one of filmmaking's first and greatest innovators. Mara Rockliff tells the story of a girl who grew up loving stories and became an acclaimed storyteller and an inspiration in her own right.
It's granny's birthday, but her little granddaughter wonders why, because of the lines on her face, she looks so worried! But they are simply wrinkles, and grandma is very fond of her lines because they are where she keeps her memories. In this imaginative and charming story, Simona Ciraolo turns the lines from old age into little wrinkles of wonder and memory as a little girl learns all about the precious moments in her grandma's life.
A young girl sets out to find out exactly what happened to her sister. Who is this new sister? Why does she never want to play anymore? For anyone who has ever felt left behind, Simona Ciraolo, the best-selling author of Hug Me, paints a touchingly sweet portrayal of the transience of childhood and how adolescence and growing up can be a truly mystifying experience.
