The Best Sound in the World

Lovely story which has packed tons of different themes into such a short book. Friendship, differences, music and having fun!

What a totally gorgeous book. I am a musician and so this really appealed to me as the mum. It also provoked a hilarious discussion....what do we think are the most beautiful and the most horrid sounds in the world. Edith decided the most beautiful sound was bees buzzing. Edith and I decided the most horrid sound was Ceci screaming which she did all the way through the story!!!! We also discussed how some lovely sounds are connected to lovely memories. We liked the way that Jemmy made music fun and maybe helped Roy to take life a little less seriously.....music sounds better when you are having fun!

The Best sound in the World is a sweet book which my youngest daughter loved listening to. She loved the journey Roy took around the world.

Roy is a lion who loves to play music. His friend, Jemmy also loves music but loves to clap, dance and sing along and so annoys Roy. However, when Roy leaves to search for the most beautiful sounds in the world he is stuck until he comes home, back to his friend.

Roy is lion with a big dream. He searches for the most beautiful dream in the world but realises everyone needs their friends to help them. A charming book full of beautiful illustrations.

Roy is a lion in search of the most beautiful sound in the world to try to copy it on his violin. He travels everywhere looking for and collecting sounds but he finds it very difficult to find the most beautiful sound until he realises that he needs his friend's help. Jemmy, the lemur helps him to find out what sounds most beautiful of all. I like the pictures of the different places he goes to look for sounds and I liked to think of a shop where you could choose from lots of different lovely sounds in bottles to find your favourite. I really enjoyed this book.

This is a charming picture book with lots to look at in each of the beautifully drawn illustrations spread across the pages. We loved reading about the musical lion who searched the world for the ultimate sound and a lovely message of only being able to achieve your dream with the help of your friends. This book will be well loved by our family. (Mum of girls 8, 6 and 3)

Don't go looking for the best sound in the world when it is right under your nose!!

We really enjoyed this book many for the drawing but also for the way it made us think about sounds when we are are out and about. However, we both came to the conclusion that the best sound in the world is the sound of some you care for laughing. It may not be the most dramatic or loudest but it is the best!
