Whiteout

Absolutely fantastic. It's full of mystery and can be very suspenseful in areas. I highly recommend reading this if you love horror and mystery

Absolutely fantastic. It's full of mystery and can be very suspenseful in areas. I highly recommend reading this if you love horror and mystery. I couldn't put the book down and I spent most of my Christmas holiday reading this. I love the way the author seamlessly travels from perspective to perspective and the way he wrote it made me feel like I was really there experiencing the same horrors that met the characters in the book.

An English school part are in the Austrian Alps for a skiing trip. Everything seems to be going fine until a pool of blood is discovered.

This book is about an English school party, in the Austrian Alps for a skiing trip. Everything seemed to be going fine until a pool of blood is discovered in the snow near where they were staying. Then all the teachers are found to be missing. I really enjoyed how the book was paced in order to optimise the suspense. The way the creatures' identity was kept ambiguous until near the end was very clever. It was an exciting read with believable characters. It appeared from the book's conclusion that there may be a sequel.

The perfect book for a good scare! I was looking over my shoulder the entire weekend!

Whiteout is a brilliant book. It leaves you guessing for such a long time about what exactly is going on, and I kept seeing things out of the corner of my eyes in the tensest parts and after I'd finished reading.

The opening chapter annoyed me, and I had a bit of a false start when I sat down to read. But because of my frustration at the opening action (reckless ignorance of safety warnings infuriates me as an ex-seasonnaire) I felt a strong affiliation to Hanna from the start and throughout - It's great to have a really strong female character leading the way. Also, to turn a negative into a positive, my response is a mark of excellent writing - dragging you into the action straight away.

This book is great if you're looking for a good scare. The perspective changes from chapter to chapter, increasing the tension as you scramble to work out what is happening in this quiet Austrian resort.

I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through the book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, the author was very good at building suspense. I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through the book. I just couldn't put it down, I needed to find out what happened.

My favourite character was Charlie as he had an air of mystery about him and you just wanted to find our who he is. I would definitely recommend this book to someone as it is a great book full of surprise.

Best book I've read in a long time, 10 out of 10 from me!

What a book! Ever since turning 12 I've found it very hard to find books I enjoy, if you have felt this way recently I highly recommend this book! At every new page there is new excitement and fear, the characters feel almost relatable and that for me makes the book even better! The author is extremely clever and shows the perspectives of multiple characters and it creates a real connection with you and the book. In terms of horror, I wasn't shook, however while reading you become so engaged you feel the fear the characters are feeling and your heart starts to beat faster for them. It has an amazing story line where a group of teenagers have to battle the elements and mystical attackers so high up on the mountain, no one can hear their screams. The local villagers, who knew what was about to happen did nothing to warn them and as they watch their friends fight, the hatred grows and increases their will to survive! Best book I've read in a long time, 10 out of 10 from me!

Whiteout is a page-turner. It takes you on an unpredictable, blood-rich journey through an isolated ski resort where a group of school teens get to practise survival skills of a different kind. People go missing, the power is cut...

This is a nail-bitingly scary, unpredictable page-turner for anyone who likes drama, vampires and action.

The story is set in a skiing village in the mountains where a group of teenagers have gone with their teachers. Despite the idyllic setting and close friends enjoying time away from school - and parents- things turn scary quite quickly. And when you actually need your teacher's help, they are nowhere to be found... Is the blood theirs? When will they come back? Is the guide there to help them or is she part of the mystery?

I really liked the setting as I love skiing and cold winters. I didn't expect the book to be so detailed and scary but I really enjoyed it and couldn't wait to find out more about each character.

Anyone aged 11+ into mystery, zombies and adventure will absolutely love Whiteout. Reluctant reader - this is the one!

Whiteout is a fast-paced action/horror novel perfect for an easy read to get sucked into: it has a very intriguing storyline and characters.

Whiteout is a fast-paced action/horror novel. Charlie - a student on a school trip to the remote resort in the mountains - and Hanna - a worker who came there to find out the truth about the death of her brother - must work together along with the other students from the trip to try and survive.
The book doesn't give you all of the answers about who they are and what is going on straight away - and it hooks you in as you want to find out who Charlie is - this mysterious protagonist who no-one really seems to know - and what it was that made the locals leave and left a trail of horror following Charlie and the others wherever they ran.
This is a good read that sucks your attention in and isn't too challenging.
Another thing I liked about it is how there are so many different characters that you see the perspective from. It focuses on Charlie and Hanna - as they are the main characters after all - but it also shows the other characters and how they are experiencing the various hardships too. Small groups branch off and slowly the main group decreases in numbers - and changing perspective to one of the less seen characters and seeing how they are feeling really makes every character seem more significant.

This is a scary, brilliant book that I never wanted to end because it was so enticing. It kept me interested from start to finish, fantastic!

Charlie and his classmates go on an exciting skiing trip to Austria. When they are there, everything goes wrong... The students are trapped in a remote lodge on the mountain! Either they will die of pneumonia or the monsters will get them... Will anyone survive?

I loved how scary this book was and I really hope the author writes a sequel or at least something similarly interesting in the future! I would give this book 5 stars. The right audience would be 13+ due to a few uses of swear words.

A gripping horror that will keep the reader on the edge of their seat. A group of innocent schoolkids prove an easy target in a remote mountain ski resort.

It was just a normal school ski trip in a mountain resort, with the usual mix of students, teachers and instructors. Then a snowstorm blew in and most of the villagers went down the mountain leaving them alone. When the teachers disappeared leaving trails of blood, things really took a turn for the worse and the nightmare was only beginning. Soon the creatures attack again and this time only a few of the group are left. Charlie and Hanna are great characters and you really hope that they will survive. Readers who love a nail-biting horror will really enjoy this book.
