Shadowghast

I loved this story so much! It had me gripped from the first page! I loved the character’s personalities and how they were so detailed and they were all so different. I loved reading this book and look forward to the next!

This book was so interesting and full of twists- I loved the plot so much and thought the characters were so detailed. I loved the book so much I finished it in one day! I also thought it was a great length- perfect older readers.

This gripping story is bound to amuse you in the best way. I could not put it down, not even for a second.

Herbie and his best friend Violet are off on another exciting adventure. Ever since his aunt Caliastra arrived strange things have been happening. First, Violet's guardian disappears and then more people follow. Can this be linked to Herbie's Aunt or is this just a coincidence?
This book was awesome and made me read all the previous books in this action-packed series, and I read it in less than a day! I could not put it down, not even for a second, and I really enjoyed this experience.
Thomas Taylor is my favourite author and in my opinion, this is his best book.

Like a perfect recipe, the perfect amount of mystery and intrigue!

One of the best books I have read so far, it has an amazing storyline & I like how there are different twists and turns throughout the story.

This is a great adventure from the Eerie-On-Sea mysteries that you won't be able to put down. For kids who love suspense!

This book is focused on Herbert (Herbie) Lemon and his friend Violet. Herbie and Violet are both growing up without their parents, Herbie's parents passed away.
When a mysterious magician comes to Eerie-On-Sea with a magic lantern she makes an unexpected claim on Herbert, claiming they are related.
A long time ago, a strange man had washed up on Eerie-On-Sea with a magic lantern in the shape of a dragon with a small orb in it's mouth which holds huge power. He was double crossed by the Mayor with catastrophic consequences!
The shadowghast is a legend - a creature who can only travel about in the light. There is something odd about Caliastra - the mysterious magician - and her two mime artists which grabs Herbie's attention.
Things quickly escalate and more and more people are disappearing from Eerie-On-Sea. If they haven't disappeared, they aren't the same and act differently - being mean to their friends.
My favourite part of this book was when they were all at the Theatre on the end of the pier because of the suspenseful chase!
After the chase, life in Eerie-On-Sea returns to normal, except for the villan who meets a terrible end!
Read this book if you like mysteries and adventure.

I really like this dark and creepy book! I loved all the characters (especially Violet) and all of the adventures they had on Ghastly Night in Eerie-On-Sea. I would definitely recommend it!

Despite not having read the first two books in this series I really loved this book! It is delightfully dark and creepy with a cast of spooky, ghastly and fun characters. In Eerie-On-Sea it is Ghastly Night and the Shadowghast is waiting in the shadows to devour the spirits of the living! Our heroes Herbie and Vi must try to solve a dangerous mystery before everyone is swallowed by darkness! There is so much adventure, mystery and fun in this book. A perfect read for autumn and the Halloween season, this is a magical, quirky and brilliantly inventive mystery story!

This book has a great combination of suspense, creepiness and thrill.

This book has a great combination of suspense, creepiness and thrill. The whole plot is set around mystery and so you never quite know what is going to happen next or how it is going to happen. I also love the magical theme as it is exciting and unknown! I just wanted to keep reading this book until I got to the end as I was desperate to know what was going to happen next.
I love the names of the characters in this book such as Violet Parma and Herbie Lemon as they remind me of sweets, which is clever, as well as the name of the place in which the story is set - Eerie-on-sea! This all adds to the feel of the story and the characters, and helps you to bring them to life. The legend of how the Shadowghast might exist makes you wonder who is really responsible for the disappearance of people in the town and it makes you come up with different scenarios in your imagination as to what might have happened and why. I like that this book has both a female and male character as it's main characters as it therefore appeals to both boys and girls, and it shows what can happen when people work as a team and not just on their own! I definitely recommend this book!

Herbie and Violet return in Eerie on Sea. A mysterious magician arrives and could spell danger for the inhabitants. A gripping story with a cunning twist.

Herbie and Violet return in this third book of the Eerie on Sea series. A mysterious magician arrives in town, bringing with her a magical lantern and claiming to be Herbie's long lost Aunt. The ghastly night show could spell danger for all the inhabitants of Eerie on Sea and Herbie and Violet's friendship is put to the test. It is a gripping story with a twist: it keeps you guessing who the real puppet master is. My favourite part of the book was the end so you'll have to read it to find out what happens. Great for fans of fantasy books. You definitely need to read Malamander and Gargantis first.

Shadowghast is the most Eerie and spectacular book that I have read.

Shadowghast is the most Eerie and spectacular book that I have read. My favourite character is Violet Parma because she is always raring for a jam-packed Eerie adventure. I have really enjoyed snuggling up with Shadowghast and being swept away to Eerie-on-Sea to wait for Halloween to arrive. The Eerie-on-Sea series is the best series I have ever read and can’t wait for the next book to come out. I would recommend this book to anyone who is 9-12 years old as it is very spooky in places. I didn’t want Shadowghast to end and I wished the pages would go on forever. It has been the perfect book to read over my half term holiday and I am now ready to celebrate Halloween by carving pumpkins and making my very own Manglewick Candle.
