I thought this book was brilliant. It’s fun, engaging and full of fascinating facts that encourage children to question what they read and decide whether something is real or rubbish.
My son is a huge fan of The Week Junior and was even in an edition of the magazine once, receiving a special badge as a little keepsake. So, whenever a new book from The Week Junior comes along, he gets very excited.
I thought this book was brilliant. It’s fun, engaging and full of fascinating facts that encourage children to question what they read and decide whether something is real or rubbish.
What I particularly love about this book is how relevant it is to the world we live in today. With fake news and misinformation becoming increasingly common, I think it’s so important to teach children from a young age not to believe everything they see or read, but to ask questions, think critically and look for the facts.
The book manages to make learning these important skills enjoyable rather than feeling like a lesson. It sparks curiosity, encourages discussion and helps children develop the confidence to think for themselves.
It’s a fantastic combination of entertainment and education, and one I think is particularly valuable for young readers growing up in a world where information is everywhere.
A fun educational read for children although I do think their grownups will equally enjoy this one!
Real or Rubbish
We’re big fans of The Week Junior so the boys were extra happy to receive a copy of this fun book full of news stories that might just be fake, who knows?!
Is cheese buried in ancient tombs?
Is bread banned in space?
Was a bear invited to a birthday?
Do Gulls snatch wallets, hair brushes and coffee mugs as well as chips?!
Is it possible to paint a house using chocolate?
Is it true that when shop dummies first came out in the 1900s, people thought they were real and it caused traffic jams?
It’s up to the reader to uncover the truth and figure out which unbelievable claim is fact and which is fiction. There are shocking and surprising stories, lots of facts and amazing photography. We’ve enjoyed this one so much and learnt a lot at the same time.
Five stars for The Week Junior Real or Rubbish. There are lots of amazing facts and made up articles and I loved testing my family to see if they could realise what was real or rubbish.
This is a really interesting book. It is jam-packed with lots of facts and made up articles to read to your friends and family to test them to see if they can realise which are the facts. There is a really big variety of topics and there are lots of things that surprised me. There are good illustrations on every page.
I really enjoyed reading this book and I would definitely recommend. Five stars.
