Diary of a Wimpy Kid (Diary of a Wimpy Kid #1)

Hilariously funny with a pinch of cleverness, a flavourful read! Readers of all ages will enjoy. A humorous and relatable book.

It’s Greg’s first day of middle school and he’s having a hard time trying to fit in and play it cool. He thinks he has a chance to make it to the popular league and win all of the girls' attention but Greg needs to step things up to get in with the action avoiding the CHEESE at all costs. As well as the cheese, Halloween is coming up and when it turns round the corner Greg and Rowley are invited to a haunted house. Greg can see the cash rolling in and makes Rowley (his best friend and sidekick) set up a haunted house of their own. As always things don’t work out the way they’re supposed to so things have to be cut out from the original plan, things are going great until Rowley’s father pulls the plug and sends their ‘customers’ back home.

Can Greg make it to earn big bucks to get the girls or will he land in the spot of unpopularity all the way at the bottom? Most of all will he manage to keep a fresh pair of underwear?

My favourite bit of the book was when Greg’s mom cuts off the haunted house party short because of the chainsaw guy. I wouldn’t change a bit when it comes to the wimpy kid series because of how hilarious they are. In fact I would say to keep up the series. Can’t wait to see what Jeff Kinney writes up next!
