It is now virtually impossible to review David Walliams’ and Tony Ross’ picturebook collaborations because, quite frankly, the superlatives are all used up. The Queen’s Orang-Utan mashes together (not literally) the queen and an orang-utan in a book that is outrageously funny.  It could not delight or rollick more, or go any further over the top: it is a total triumph.

Once again the pairing of words and illustrations is perfect. Tony Ross’s pictures capture the energy of the text and the ideas, while emphasising also the friendly connection of the characters. Children will love it, parents will love it – there’s simply nothing more to say. Except that the proceeds go to Comic Relief.  ~ Andrea Reece

***A brilliant audio version has also been created by David along with Miranda Hart and Rob Brydon – a starry collaboration which combines to create a highly comic rendition of the tale.  On the eve of Red Nose Day – 12th March 2015 – the book will also be published as a special limited edition hardback with the CD of the audio included.
