This is bright, cheery picture book has a positive and reassuring message for young children. Little Miki the meerkat needs to be tempted out of their burrow by his mother, but finds the outside world light and exciting; it’s a bit frightening too but the keeper takes good care of them. When Miki does dare to leave his enclosure he discovers that the world is full of legs!
It’s overwhelming until he spots legs he recognises – those of the friendly keeper, who takes him back to the comfort and safety of home. It’s a satisfying story that will reassure children who worry about, or have experience of being lost, and meerkat Miki is a very sweet hero. ~ Andrea Reece
