Until that is, he develops a terrible toothache and the unselfish kindness – and bravery – of a little mouse opens his eyes to how the world works best. Terry’s illustrations are glorious – children will particularly love the picture of the little mouse scuttling over the crocodile’s rows of gleaming teeth – and it’s a wonderful book to share, read together and discuss.

The animals in the forest don't know what to do. They are frightened of the crocodile. Even the fish, tadpoles, frogs, crabs and crayfish stay out of the water.
