Paul’s life changes in totally unexpected ways when he discovers a little ghost living in the keyhole of his front door. The two quickly become friends and no wonder, Zippel the ghost is irresistible – funny, mischievous and thoroughly well-meaning, if totally baffled by modern life (he’s particularly fascinated by the flush on the toilet). Together they have some excellent adventures, Zippel getting up to all sorts of tricks in an old castle and taking ingenious revenge on a couple of bullies who’ve been tormenting Paul. Full colour illustrations by Axel Scheffler perfectly capture the droll humour of the stories and this is one of the most enjoyable books I’ve read this year. Buy a copy and don’t be surprised if you find readers checking out keyholes in the hope of finding their own Zippel.

Really funny and a great book to read!

This is a book about a boy called Paul, who finds a little ghost in a keyhole. Paul has to try and find a new home for Zippel the ghost.
It was very, very funny and I just couldn't stop reading and laughing! I loved it when poor Zippel had to sleep in one of Paul's Dad's socks! The ending was brilliant and made me feel really happy and excited.
I think any children who like funny books would like this book. Don't worry the ghost isn't scary!... Read Full Review

This is a really fun story about a boy and a ghost being friends and sticking together. I loved reading it and really hope there will be a second book to carry on the story.

Zippel: The Little Keyhole Ghost is a story about a boy called Paul, who lives with his mum and dad, and is bullied at school. One day he sticks his key into his door, but he hears an “Ow!” and he finds a little ghost. They soon become friends, but where will Zippel live when Mum and Dad change the broken lock? And who is the strange old lady in the corridor, Mrs Wilhelm?

I think that this story is really funny, and I love Zippel. He’s friendly and kind but also mischievous. My favourite part is when Zippel went to school and did the voice acting to get revenge on the bullies, Tom and Tim.... Read Full Review
