Alpha and Lucy are twins and very close, but family changes and problems at school have served to push them apart. As they live separate lives, Alpha angry with and hurt by her father, who has moved out, and Lucy consumed by anxiety triggered by cruel bullying at school, things feel bleak.
But the arrival of an abandoned wolf cub at the local rewilding project, run by their mother, provides a way for the girls to explore their feelings and reconcile. There’s a believable sense of the pain both twins are experiencing and an equally strong sense of the bond between, while depictions of the natural world are vivid too, convincing us of its power to heal. Ewa Jozefkowicz is a very good storyteller and this is a rich, satisfying and reflective novel.

Lucy and Alpha are identical twins. But on the inside, they couldn't be more different. A story about healing through nature and listening to the wildness inside us all...
Lucy and Alpha used to be the Wonder Twins, two hearts beating as one. When Mum's new job rewilding wolves means they have to move to the forest, that changes. Lucy loves being close to nature, but Alpha wants to follow her dream of basketball glory. They've become like distant universes, drifting further apart.
Then a new wolf cub arrives at the centre. Lucy names him Claw and they form a special bond. But Alpha thinks he should roam free, and she plots to release him. When news of Claw's disappearance breaks, the future of the rewilding centre is at stake.
Can the Wonder Twins pull together again to find Claw and heal their differences?
