More great reads: the best books for 9 year olds
"A great new adventure series full of magic and magical creatures."
Kelpies, fairies, an imp, you’ll meet them all and more in this magical adventure story.
Callen isn’t thrilled to be moving into the country mansion left to the family by his nan, and it seems pretty creepy, with stone gargoyles at every turn. In fact, the house is a source of magic, as Callen discovers, and he has the ability to wake the gargoyles and bring them to life.
With new mates, Yasmin, her little brother Raf, and Angus, all of whom have made friends with magical creatures, and the help of the gargoyles, in particular the fierce but loyal Zariel, Callen must take on enemies, human and supernatural, who intend real harm.
Tamson Mori’s story is full of excitement, Callen’s new friendships make great reading too, and there are subtle messages about the importance and value of being honest and true. A great new fantasy series.
