Whether she is contacted by someone looking for help to find missing items or stumbles across a spy in the park, Margot and her friends are quick to act to get to the bottom of the issue.

Each chapter offers a different focus, giving readers a myriad of Margo’s adventures to enjoy and a fast paced story each time. I noticed that there were a lot of sentences starting with ‘the’ or ‘they’ throughout but in Chapter 4 in particular. This simpler sentence structure may appeal to younger or less confident readers but may be a bit repetitive for more confident readers.

I liked how the author integrated a wide range of characters and cultures into the stories, allowing readers to learn more about Hanukkah at Benjamin’s party, Logan’s Native American heritage and the delicious food made by Bhini’s Indian family. There’s also a wide range of topics and themes covered which makes each investigation unique.

From uncovering fossils, helping to surprise loved ones, handling a sibling prank war and even getting it wrong and needing to own up to your mistakes, there’s plenty in these stories to entertain.
