The ambitious plan pays off and through the soft and calmly colourful illustrations by Anna Nicolò, we see Ida’s idea come to life. I love that this story twists the timeless pleasure of trying to spot shapes in the clouds.

THere’s also a subtle learning opportunity with some of the characters personifying different types of clouds. The soft colour palette with the emphasis of blues and yellows makes you think of a sunny sky, but the gentle hues make the illustrations quite calming, making this a gentle read during a quiet time or bedtime.

A magical story about working together, with the added fun for young readers to go through and see how many animals they can spot in the clouds, Ida the Cloud is a joyful reminder of how beautiful the world around us can be.
