D.J. MacHale is a writer, director, executive producer and creator of several popular television series, specials and movies.
D.J.'s filmmaking career began in New York where he worked as a freelance writer and director, making corporate videos and television commercials. He also taught photography and film production. He first broke into the entertainment business by writing several "Young People's Specials." He became co-creator of the popular Nickelodeon series: "Are You Afraid of the Dark?” the longest running live-action family programs on television. He has since written feature films for 20th Century Fox and Paramount Pictures.

D.J. lives in Manhattan Beach, CA with his wife Evangeline. They are avid backpackers, scuba divers and skiers. Rounding out the household are a Golden Retriever, Maggie; and a Kitten, Kaboodle.
