"Expect a major plot, expect a lot of unhinged Riordan/ Oshiro action and expect a truly amazing novel."
October 2025 Book of the Month
The Court of the Dead packs a punch, a powerful sequel featuring two very popular characters, from the first book from Riordan and Oshiro, The Sun and the Star.
In this story, Nico and Will team up with Nico’s half-sister Hazel after Hazel alerts them to an issue at Camp Jupiter. I really loved the rapport both between Nico and Will of course but also with Hazel, it’s fun, fast paced and is really enjoyable to read.
So what is the problem at Camp Jupiter? It’s one that Will and Nico have inadvertently brought on themselves. We saw in The Sun and the Star that these two demigods showed monsters of the underworld that they don’t necessarily have to be evil beings, they can be good, and they can be neutral. Some of these monsters have fled the underworld and taken refuge at Camp Jupiter and then they start to disappear!
I was very happy to see Hazel jumping on the wild ride that Will and Nico will provide and growing as a character on their own. Readers might be a little anxious about this “mysterious dark force” that the three heroes are somehow connected to but I know they will really enjoy how it all unfolds for them.
Riordan has said that The Court of the Dead will be like “Will and Nico going to the circus” which is equally fun and of course terrifying for anyone who may be afraid of what a circus can unleash!
I would say expect a major plot, expect a lot of unhinged Riordan / Oshiro action and expect a truly amazing novel. I cannot keep The Sun and the Star on the shelves in the library that I manage and I know The Court of the Dead will be just as popular, a stunning new addition to this fantastic storyline.

Awesome book, didn't want to put it down and each page just keeps you wanting more.
Incredible book!!!
I have read the whole book and wow, it was amazing from start to finish with each page keeping you drawn in and wanting to just keep reading.
Nico has ran towards another quest along with will to help his half sister at camp Jupiter. With beings from the underworld seeking asylum , people start going missing and they think that Hazel could be in danger.
The book has some lovely friendships and shows me what it would be like to be a hero.
I don't want to spoil the book for anyone, so head to your nearest book store and get reading.... Read Full Review
A BRAND-NEW ADVENTURE FROM THE WORLD OF PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS
From #1 best-selling author Rick Riordan and award-winning author Mark Oshiro comes a new adventure featuring two of the most popular characters from the world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
It's been three months since demigod boyfriends Nico di Angelo and Will Solace returned from Tartarus, and there hasn't been a single quest for them in all that time. So, when Nico's half sister Hazel asks them to come to Camp Jupiter to help with an 'issue', Nico shadow-jumps at the chance to do something.
What Hazel didn't tell the boys is that she's providing a haven for a group of monsters who've escaped the Underworld! Apparently, during Nico and Will's trip to the Underworld, they showed the monsters that they don't have to be evil - that the monsters have options.
But then the monsters start disappearing from the camp and it's clear a dark force is at work - and Nico, Will and Hazel are shocked to find that they're connected to it . . .
Return to the World of Percy Jackson in the best-selling, brand-new adventure featuring the original hero in Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Wrath of the Triple Goddess - out now!
