The 50 State Unofficial Meteorites

The 50 State Unofficial Meteorites Synopsis

This kids guidebook provides a unique look at meteorites that have been found in almost all of the 50 US states.

While no state has an official state meteorite, award-winning author and mineral and fossil expert Yinan Wang presents each state's "unofficial" meteorite, along with its interesting backstory of why it was selected. Each state's entry includes information about several meteorites that are worthy of becoming official state meteorites.

From the Lafayette Mars meteorite found in a drawer in Purdue University to the 26-pound space rock that smashed into the trunk of a car in Peekskill, New York, stories of meteorites from across the US are detailed in this fascinating guidebook for children.

Key Features:

• More than 150 illustrations and photographs showcase these marvels from outer space.
• Suggestions are given on where meteorites might be found in the states that have not yet recorded any meteorite discoveries.
• Guidance for readers interested in leading the way in getting an official meteorite designated for their own state.
