If you know a teenager who enjoys Malcolm Burgess’s novels (particularly his brilliant Sara’s Face) or indeed those of Meg Cabot then you should probably introduce them to this well-written and thought-provoking trilogy by Scott Westerfield. It will certainly make them think that perhaps accepting people as they are – whether they are ugly or beautiful – is of greater importance in life than that first glance
