Brilliant idea to bring together Winnie the Witch and the equally daring, zany and exuberant character in Yuck in one super paperback. Boys and girls adore both of these characters so to get a 2in1 to celebrate World Book Day 2009 must mean that everyone’s birthdays must have come at once.
Winnie to the Rescue - Yuck's Rotten Joke Synopsis
Winnie to the Rescue: She may not be a superhero or a prize-winning pet owner, but when has that ever stopped Winnie from pulling off a daring stunt to save a playground full of children or putting Wilbur in for a snooty cat show? Two crazily funny stories featuring everyone's favourite witch, her big black cat, Wilbur, and a zany supporting cast of new characters. Korky Paul's exuberant black line illustrations complement the humour, slapstick, and moments of real drama. Pure magic!
Yuck's Rotten Joke: Polly's report card is full of stars for good behaviour, while Yuck doesn't have any.
He needs some by the end of the week or he'll be in BIG TROUBLE. Using his collection of practical jokes - from itching powder to Dogididapoo - can Yuck make sure he has the last laugh?
Laura Owen: Winnie the Witch was created by Valerie Thomas. In writing these
stories, a new author, Laura Owen, has had unrestricted access to the
world of Winnie and Wilbur. She has discovered hitherto unknown details
about the life and mishaps of everyone’s favourite witch. Winnie has
let Laura into her home and talked to her frankly about the many
adventures she has shared with Wilbur. In order for this bond of trust
to continue between Winnie and Laura, Laura has chosen to keep her
profile as low as possible.
Matt & Dave: Matthew Morgan and David Sinden co-developed and wrote the Yuck
stories. They both work in children's publishing and have been friends
since they were kids.
