LoveReading4Kids Says
Julia Donaldson and Rebecca Cobb have already created the wonderful picture book Paper Dolls, and their new board books are really very special indeed. Baby’s day is depicted over five spreads. It follows a normal routine – playing, having breakfast, going out in the pram, bath-time then bed – but baby spots a hare on the chair, a mole in the breakfast bowl, a lamb in the pram and an owl in the towel! Lift the flap and each animal is sent back home, except for the ted in the bed, invited to stay and have a cuddle. Baby’s life is beautifully described in these short lines, while Cobb’s illustrations delicately capture every action and emotion. It end with an action song for toddlers, a chance for them to pretend to be the animals, and a perfectly formed nursery rhyme. ~ Andrea Reece
