I enjoyed reading Skandar, it was full of adventure, mystery and had a great storyline. Flo was my favourite character (until I read the 4th in this series!!). This book is about a boy called Skandar who leaves his home island and goes to live with unicorns. However these unicorns are not the fluffy and pink ones you would imagine they are, they are blood thirsty but can be kind when you treat them correctly. Not many books get me hooked by the prologue, but in Skandar and the Unicorn Thief, I was hooked from the first page! I went into it thinking unicorns were all about rainbows and sparkles, and I wasn’t sure if it would be my kind of story, but I was very wrong! This book completely changes the way we normally think of unicorns. They're wild, powerful and dangerous, nothing like the cute creatures I expected.
The book is full of suspense. Just when you think things have calmed down, something else happens. The plot about bonding with a unicorn and training to be a unicorn rider was brilliant!
