When a gorilla comes to stay, the little girl wants to make sure her friend has a great time. She selects the menu carefully – lots of bananas – and takes him out in the snow. Skiing and skating isn’t really his thing, but swinging from the cable car wires is great fun and once he’s feeling better then the skiing and skating are suddenly more appealing !
The zany story carries a message, and the text provides lots of opportunity for repetition and joining in. As ever, Lydia Monks’s bright illustrations with their strong shapes and saturated colours are a visual feast and her skilful use of collage give this an extra depth.
