Solar Mamas Synopsis

The radiant sun shines gloriously upon the desert village Tilonia in India, but as night falls, the village plunges into darkness without electricity to keep the lights on. When Sanjit 'Bunker' Roy, a young engineer, visits the village, he's inspired to show the men how to use the sun to generate electricity through solar engineering. But with this new knowledge, the men leave their home for greater opportunities in the city.

Disappointed, Bunker Roy looks around and wonders who is likely not to abandon their home... and turns to the grandmothers in the village! The grandmothers are curious and willing to try, but solar engineering is complex. With collaboration, commitment, and hope, the women master the intricacies of circuits and panels to equip the entire village with solar power!

Now as night falls, Tilonia and many other villages shine brightly thanks to Bunker Roy and the Solar Mamas. With poetic text by Jyothi Nookula and dazzling illustrations by Nabi H.
