Every Elephant Has a Name

Every Elephant Has a Name Synopsis

From legendary conservationist Jane Goodall and animal expert Marc Bekoff comes the unforgettable story of Taraji, a young elephant in Tanzania who must learn the "code of the animal kingdom" in order to help him face life's challenges with hope and courage. Taraji's name means "hope," but lately, he feels lost. Everything changes when his grandmother teaches him the code of the animal kingdom: five promises rooted in interconnectedness and environmental stewardship that inspire him to grow into his name.

Inspired by their best-selling book The Ten Trusts: What We Must Do to Care for the Animals We Love, Jane Goodall and Marc Bekoff condensed their "10 trusts" down to 5 accessible principles to empower and connect kids to the larger world around them. Grounded by an engaging narrative told through Taraji's eyes, young readers will discover how even small actions can make a big difference in protecting our precious planet and all its inhabitants.

Additional educational resources follow at the back of the book, including fascinating facts about elephants, how readers can apply the code of the animal kingdom to their own lives, and resources for getting involved in their community and making a positive difference.
