Ontario ABCs

Ontario ABCs Synopsis

Board-book alphabet adventure introduces Ontario through animals, landscapes, outdoor activities and familiar regional experiences around the Great Lakes.

Jocey Asnong's Ontario ABCs turns early letter learning into a playful trip across the province. Young readers can splash in Muskoka, skate on Ottawa's Rideau Canal, help turn sap into maple syrup, share a grilled lunch with seagulls and peer through pine trees at a campsite in one of Ontario's many parks.

Asnong's colourful illustrations connect alphabet recognition with wildlife, outdoor recreation and place. The Great Lakes, forests, cities and seasonal activities give children recognizable visual cues while also introducing some of the geographic and cultural variety found across Ontario. Each page offers adults opportunities to talk about letters, animals and places during shared reading.

The sturdy board-book format is designed for toddlers, preschoolers and repeated handling. It is well suited to early-learning collections, Ontario and Canadian geography, regional gift displays and families looking for an alphabet book rooted in local landscapes.
