LoveReading4Kids Says

Imagine being asked to be the test subject of experimental technology designed by your deceased parents. How could you refuse? But nobody told you what it would mean.

14-year-old Porter Simms is able to “channel” data wirelessly to his brain. In the blink of an eye he can learn new languages, skills and information. There’s just one catch. Porter is constantly online, no more than a device of the US government, and every time he uses the skills, he loses a part of himself. How long before he is no more than a humanoid tool to be controlled by others? Where does his humanity and empathy reside and how can he save himself?

To make matters worse, an unseen enemy wants him taken offline – permanently. Will Porter solve the mystery of what happened to his parents, and will anybody tell him the truth about what he will become?

The back story is skilfully revealed in a series of flashbacks. This fast-paced thriller will thoroughly engage tech savvy teenagers and give them plenty to think about. The scientific scenarios seem entirely plausible and not too far away from what we know now and will raise fascinating questions about the morality of human experimentation and what boundaries we may need to impose on the human/machine interface. A thoroughly intelligent and gripping sci fi adventure.
