Name: Roy Keane
Nationality: Irish
Hero Rating: 89

At 14 years old Roy Keane was told he was too small to be a professional footballer. For the next four years, club after club turned him down, until Cobh Ramblers finally took a chance on him. His performances for the semi-professional Irish team caught the eye of a scout from Nottingham Forest, and Keane's determination, skill and grit impressed their legendary manager Brian Clough.

Having established himself at Forest as one of the best young midfield prospects around, he was snapped up by Alex Ferguson's Manchester United, where he developed into a world-class player and a fiery, formidable captain. Roy Keane led the Red Devils to seventeen major trophies - including English football's first Treble.

Ultimate Football Heroes is a series of biographies telling the life stories of the biggest and best footballers in the world and their incredible journeys from childhood fan to superstar professional player.
