"This stunningly colourful and informative book about the fairy kingdom would make a beautiful gift for others or yourself."
A wow of a book, and most definitely one for those who love fantasy, myths, legends, and folktales, delight in the world of the fae, and believe in fairies! It’s a large book, each page popping with vibrancy, and there a lovely additions such as the pull out Fairy Spotting Map! While this has been written for adults and young adults, younger children I’m sure, would love to be guided through the illustrations and information about the different fairies. The authors, Agnes Monod-Gayraud and Lorna White, explain that fairies are the: “ancient fates, destinies, guardians, guides, gatekeepers, muses and messengers who have forged a bridge between the enchanted realm of magic and mysticism and the material world of nature and human civilisation”. Concentrating on the types of fairies from the different elements, this also delves into natural facts and information such as the life cycle of a star, which makes this all feel so very real. The absolutely stunning illustrations are by Nadzeya Makeyeva, they partner with the text beautifully and it seems as though they organically as well as creatively grew together. The fairies range in colours, from ocean blue and icy white, to fiery red and moss green, they can also be found throughout the world so this does feel very inclusive. I delight in all things mystical and magical, and as soon as I saw it, knew that it would join my much loved collection… and so I have chosen this book as a Liz Pick of the Month and a LoveReading Star Book. Breathtaking in its vibrancy, Faedom is as beautiful as it is fascinating and comes as highly recommended by our team.
