LoveReading4Kids Says
Using a bright, friendly picture book approach to present children with situations they will recognise and understand from their own everyday experiences, this book explains what consent is, how to give or withhold it, and how to ask for it. It does this by posing a series of questions, illustrating the answers with child-friendly scenarios, and providing clear, easy to follow answers.
Questions range from ‘what is giving consent?’ and ‘what should you do when someone says “no”’ to ‘what should you do when someone doesn’t ask for consent?’ The latter comes with a step-by-step guide to saying no, which includes asking an adult for help – and finding another if the first does nothing. ‘It’s good to know’ panels on every page contain extra pieces of information.
By tackling this important subject sensitively and in such an accessible way, this book will empower children as well as teaching them self-respect and respect for others. Highly recommended.
